The County Ground - Swindon Town

The County Ground - Swindon Town - 2010

Swindon Town's county ground has been their home stadium for over 100 years. It even hosted premier league football in the first season of the league! Here it was hosting another ex-premier league team in the form of Leeds United.

By the look of the attendance, pretty much double the average for the season, the whole town had turned out to see an 'upset'. Again it was one of those situations where I'd like to think that if they played like that every week they would be champions.

We lost badly and played badly - they played brilliantly. We could have lost more than 3-0 but Casper was having a great game.

The ground was great! I was lucky enough to be in the seats with a roof as I watched the open seats in an old terrace get cold and wet! The Swindon fans made a lot of noise in their end - but they had every right to be happy!

Slightly more dangerous was the single door that was the only way into the seats, the fact that a whole extra row of seats wasn't anywhere to be seen, meaning that about 20 leeds fans were just stood up on the stairs

I'm hoping that the performance was a one off!
